In this video, board certified orthopaedic surgeon Anand Vora describes the surgical treatment for a 5th metatarsal fracture (Jones fracture) injury. This is a condition common in athletes and appropriate surgical repair can allow for near immediate walking and return to the sport within weeks instead of months.
The screw used in this procedure was designed by Dr. Vora specifically for the treatment of this injury. Dr Vora has performed the procedure on elite level dancers, professional athletes including professional soccer players, and other competitive athletes, as well as recreational athletes. One such patient was Stevenson junior Jordan Newman, about whose recovery Dr. Vora said “this player came back very quickly relative to the normal patient.”
